It's important to remember the ongoing controversial statements by the creator of the Harry Potter franchise. CBR supports the hard work of industry professionals on properties fans know and love, and the wider world of Harry Potter that fans have adopted as their own. You can find CBR's continuing coverage on Rowling here.
The Harry Potter franchise has been a huge hit since the release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in 2001. J.K. Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter books that the movies are based on, created this magical universe in her seven books and managed to enchant Harry Potter fans all over the world. After the huge success of the Harry Potter books, movies, and games, the streaming service MAX has released an official confirmation of a new Harry Potter show that is bound to hit screens in the future. MAX promised a new reboot series that wants to stay close to the iconic Harry Potter books. This new Harry Potter show could reintroduce forgotten characters that were left out by the Warner Bros. Harry Potter movies.
The movie adaptations of the Harry Potter books were great, but through the limited amount of time that was allocated to each movie, producers had to make decisions concerning certain characters that they left out. From Peeves to Ludo Bagman, Harry Potter fans who didn't read the books might be surprised by the depth of the Wizarding World.
10 Bane Might Finally Give More Exposure to Centaurs in Harry Potter
There were many species in Harry Potter, with centaurs being relatively known throughout the Wizarding World. The centaur Bane was a minor character in the Harry Potter books, but he could have been the key to a further exploration of his species.
Bane and Harry's centaur friend, Firenze, were relatively close, but Bane felt a deeper resentment toward wizards in Harry Potter and warned them not to step into centaur territory on many occasions. Including Bane in a Harry Potter reboot might finally give them the exposure they deserve and extend fans' knowledge on centaurs' divination and archery skills.
- Centaurs preferred to live in forests.
- A herd of centaurs was made up of 10 to 50 centaurs.
9 Rodolphus Lestrange Was Bellatrix Lestrange's Forgotten Husband
Much was known about the ruthless witch Bellatrix Lestrange, but the Harry Potter movies never really took advantage of displaying her husband, Rodolphus Lestrange. Rodolphus Lestrange was actually an important player in the Wizarding World and fought alongside Voldemort from the First Wizarding War until the Battle of Hogwarts.
Rodolphus Lestrange should definitely be a top contender for a character in the Harry Potter reboot, as he could expand the lore surrounding Bellatrix and the Lestrange family. Rodolphus Lestrange was also imprisoned in Azkaban after Voldemort's final defeat but managed to escape and went out to look for Delphini, the daughter of Voldemort and Bellatrix. This storyline could potentially be the start of a sequel to the original Harry Potter movies, and Rodolphus' presence in a Harry Potter reboot would therefore be crucial.
- Bellatrix was a Black by birth.
- Bellatrix only married Rudolphus because of his blood purity.
8 Fans of the Harry Potter movies Should Experience the Pain of Knowing Peeves
Peeves made his first appearance in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and was generally known as a chaotic and annoying poltergeist to both Hogwarts students and Harry Potter fans. The video game Hogwarts Legacy also portrayed Peeves' character, where he was seen roaming around the castle and bothering students.
Although Peeves might not be the first character who comes to mind when thinking about a Harry Potter reboot, his character is iconic to the Harry Potter universe nonetheless. Of course, Peeves should not be given too much attention, but including him in at least one on-screen adaptation would be the least Harry Potter could do to honor his character.
- Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone was released in 2001.
- U.S. publishers changed the original name of the first book from Philosopher's Stone to Sorcerer's Stone to cater more to children.
7 Winky Was One of the few Female House-Elves in Harry Potter
The Harry Potter books featured Winky, a female house-elf who served in the Crouch family. House-elves were generally underexposed in the Harry Potter movies, but Winky was additionally a female house-elf, a rare occurrence in the Wizarding World.
A Harry Potter reboot could potentially showcase Winky and her tragic backstory to unveil the many hardships that she had to go through in Harry Potter. From her servitude under Barty Crouch Senior, her release from servitude, and finally, her fall into depression, Winky deserved time on-screen.
- Winky did not want to be set free and refused payment for her services.
- There were only two female house-elves in Harry Potter: Winky and Hokey.
6 Ludo Bagman Could Explain the Problems Between Goblins and Wizards
Ludovic "Ludo" Bagman first appeared in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and became known for his gambling problems. Ludo Bagman was a decent wizard, but his gambling addiction quickly took over his life, and he had to flee from debt collectors.
Ludo Bagman was one of the reasons behind the general dislike between goblins and wizards, as he repeatedly stole and scammed them. The Harry Potter movies didn't fully explain why goblins had such a profound problem with wizards, but featuring Bagman in a Harry Potter reboot would make for additional exposure of the issue and possibly give more details about goblin lore.
- Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was released in 2005.
- Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire has an IMDb score of 7.7.
5 Alice and Frank Longbottom Deserved Recognition in Harry Potter
Neville Longbottom was a prominent figure in the Harry Potter universe, but much less was known about his parents, Alice and Frank Longbottom. The movies did try to implement their story to some degree, but the books truly showcased the tragedy that they went through.
Captured and tortured to insanity by Bellatrix, Rodolphus, and Barty Crouch Junior, Alice and Frank had to live the rest of their lives in a mental hospital, not knowing about their son's heroism. The Harry Potter reboot promised to stay true to the Harry Potter books and could further explain and unveil the atrocities that they had to go through.
- Alice and Frank Longbottom were members of the original Order of the Phoenix.
- Neville used his father's wand for years.
4 Teddy Lupin Needs To Be Part of Harry Potter Lore
Edward Remus "Teddy" Lupin was the son of Remus Lupin and Nymphadora Tonks, who had one of the most tragic deaths in Harry Potter. Teddy was featured in the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows book but sadly never made it into the movies.
Teddy Lupin would certainly make for an exciting on-screen appearance through the nostalgia connected to his parents but also through the fact that like his mother, Teddy was a Metamorphmagus. Metamorphmagi were rare in the Harry Potter series, and the combination of his iconic name and his exceptional magical abilities would be a valuable addition to a Harry Potter reboot series.
- Teddy's hair color kept changing as a child because he was a Metamorphmagus.
- Remus Lupin and Nymphadora Tonks were killed by Bellatrix Lestrange and Antonin Dolohov during the Battle of Hogwarts.
3 Regulus Black May Have Been the Most Heroic Member of the Black Family
Regulus Black was Sirius' younger brother in Harry Potter and made a name for himself after joining Lord Voldemort's Death Eaters. Regulus did, however, defect from Voldemort's ranks after realizing what a monster he was and died while trying to destroy Salazar Slytherin's Locket.
Many considered Sirius Black to be heroic, but Regulus was actually far more willing to give his life in order to end Voldemort's ruthless ambitions. A Harry Potter reboot could finally give Regulus some time on-screen and honor his heroic death in the franchise.
- Regulus was killed by Inferi.
- Regulus had a close relationship with Kreacher.
2 Charlie Weasley Was a Far More Interesting Character in the Harry Potter Books
There were many family members of the Weasleys, making it easy to forget Charlie in the midst of it all. Nonetheless, Charlie Weasley was actually majorly interesting, and his adventures studying dragons in Romania deserved more acknowledgment.
Charlie Weasley made one appearance in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, but he was generally omitted from Harry Potter movies, making the Harry Potter books far more informational concerning his character. Exploring Charlie's life in the new Harry Potter series would therefore certainly be much appreciated by fans.
- Dragons were the most powerful creatures in Harry Potter.
- Arthur and Molly Weasley had seven children.
1 The Gaunts May Explain Lord Voldemort's Obsession With Blood Purity
The Gaunts were one of the most important Harry Potter families, but the movies conveniently left out their existence. The Gaunt family was entirely made up of pure-blood wizards and originated from the families of Peverell and Slytherin. After a long line of marrying their own cousins to keep a "clean" lineage, Merope Gaunt bewitched the Muggle-born Tom Riddle Senior, with whom she had fallen in love. Out of this relation emerged none other than Tom Riddle himself.
Many Harry Potter fans never knew that Lord Voldemort was actually a half-blood, making his quest for blood purity that much more fascinating. The upcoming Harry Potter series will hopefully pick up on the Gaunt family and give more information about their family, ultimately extending the lore surrounding Tom Riddle.
- Every member of the Gaunt family was a pure-blood except Tom Riddle.
- Cadmus Peverell and his two brothers were the inspiration for the Tale of the Three Brothers.
Harry Potter
The Harry Potter franchise follows the adventure of a young boy introduced a whole new world of magic, mayhem and darkness. Traversing the obstacles in his path, young Harry's rise to heroics pits him against Lord Voldemort, one of the most dangerous wizards in the world and all his minions.
